Privacy in the Aurum TV app
Last updated 8 October 2026
In short: the Aurum TV app has no account, no ads and no analytics, and it never sends your viewing to us or anyone else. What it learns stays on your TV.
Who is responsible
Aurum TV is made in Sweden. Questions about privacy, and requests about your data, go to hello@aurumtv.com.
The Aurum TV app
What stays on your TV
Your history, statistics, profiles, favourites, hidden titles and settings are stored only on the TV, in Aurum's own storage. Aurum has no server of its own and no account with us. Uninstalling Aurum deletes all of it, and Rensa historik (Clear history) deletes a profile's history at any time.
What Aurum reads, with your permission
- What your apps share with Android TV: their Continue watching (Watch Next) and channels, to build the rows.
- Notification access (optional): what the apps' players report while playing, such as title, picture, length and how far you got, for Aurum Live, Continue watching and your history. The notifications themselves are not read.
- Usage access (optional): which app was on screen and when, for apps that share no player, so your history and the app order can include them.
- The Home button service (optional, an accessibility service): it takes the remote's Home key only, to open Aurum, and opens Aurum once the TV has started. It reads no screen content and no other keys.
What is looked up online
To show episode guides, ratings, descriptions and the weather, Aurum asks public services directly from your TV, without any account or identifier of yours. Like any website you visit, these services see your TV's IP address and what is asked, which can be the name of a series or film you have in your rows:
- TVmaze for upcoming episodes of your series.
- Wikipedia and Wikidata for ratings and descriptions.
- Open-Meteo for the temperature by the clock, and ipwho.is for the approximate place it is for (from the IP address, once a day). Only when the temperature is switched on.
- svtplay.se and YouTube for their public programme and channel lists, when you have those apps.
- The apps' own image servers, for the pictures on the cards.
Accounts you link
If you link Plex or TV4 Play, the login stays on the TV and Aurum talks to that service directly, to read your own lists and progress. It is never sent to us. The TV4 Play link is unofficial and may stop working if TV4 changes its service. You can unlink at any time.
The compatibility report
Aurum can export a report of what your apps share with Android, to help a new country get ready. It is made only when you ask, contains no titles, history or favourites, and goes only where you choose to send it.
Your rights
Aurum keeps nothing about you anywhere but on your TV, so it is all in your hands there: Rensa historik clears a profile, and uninstalling Aurum removes everything. Questions go to hello@aurumtv.com. You can also turn to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
